Both the government and the mission understood that a large group of Indigenous educators needed to be trained to deliver basic education for Indigenous children on a large scale. Pemaloengan Tjalon Goeroe Kristen (Pelatihan untuk calon guru Kristen) Kata pertama adalah bahasa Jawa.Bahwa pendidikan 'Barat' juga menyiratkan pengetahuan dan apresiasi terhadap masa lalu sendiri, terlihat dari foto perjalanan sekolah dari perguruan tinggi pelatihan Protestan ini. Sekolah ini dinamai L.W.H.  Keuchenius, Sekretaris Kolonial dari tahun 1888-1890. Dia mencabut larangan mensubsidi pendidikan pribumi atas dasar agama. (P.Orchard, 2001)

Awalnya, sekolah yang dipimpin oleh guru misionaris Zuidema itu berlokasi di Poerworedjo. Karena alasan kesehatan, sekolah itu kini berada di Djokja.  (Surabaysch Handelsblad, 11 Januari 1904)
